I sent a text out to 3,000 people on Monday with the simple question of:

What’s the main fitness OBSTACLE holding you back at the gym?
A – time/busy schedule
B – not knowing where to start
C – motivation/accountability
D – other

…and I was SHOCKED at the results.

For starters, I was blown away by the sheer number of responses which was soooo helpful, and it’s why I wanted to share the results with you.

By an absolute landslide, with second place not even being in the same arena, you all answered “A – time/busy”.

The #1 Obstacle Holding You Back In Your Fitness at the Gym

Most Common Responses of Fitness Obstacles:

I’m not saying I had angry responses when I asked a simple follow up question (example: “what specifically about your schedule makes you not have time?”), but almost every single one felt like someone snapping back with…

“Well I work full time,” or,

“My job’s hours are unpredictable”, or another very common specific reason,

“I work full time + my kids have activities every evening.”

My FAVORITE response was talking about how it’s busy season at work, so I asked when “busy season” at work would be over?

“Oh pretty much never, it’s always busy.”

When Does It End?

So when does you being too busy to prioritize your own health end?

You say you’re willing to do anything for your kids, and you want the best life for them, yet you aren’t willing to take care of your own health? A little fitness obstacle and you just give up?

If you continue down this exact same path with your work schedule, kids, other commitments… what does the picture of your health look like 5 years from now? 10 years? When you’re “retirement age”?

All I’m asking for is 4.5 hours of your time per week.

Let’s call it Mon, Wed, Fri at 5am before the kids are awake, or 12pm noon during lunch, or 6pm on the way home from work. Plus 15 minute drive here + home.

That’s all we need to start this whole thing, and completely change the trajectory of the health of you, and thus your family for the next generation.

Would you be willing to commit to 3 days per week (total of 4.5 hours) in your schedule?

Or would you rather wait for that scary doctor’s visit in a few years where there’s now a list of prescribed medications, and what seems like an insurmountable task of turning your life around?

Turn it around now, while it’s still simple and easy. It’s a fitness obstacle worth overcoming!
